About Us
Mission Statement of Divine Word:
As people of God we gather to participate in God’s healing of our broken world
We are a growing, welcoming congregation committed to doing ministry throughout our community and beyond. We are rooted in the diverse neighborhood of Milwaukee, Washington Heights and surrounding areas.God’s purpose for Divine Word Lutheran Church is to joyfully invite all to share in God’s love and intentionally serve our community.
What we believe
We believe that the gospel is God’s gift to all people, to be shared unconditionally, without regard to age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, family or immigration status or physical or mental abilities. We know that the world is often an unloving place and that experience of alienation is all too common. To those who have felt excluded here and elsewhere, we extend a particular welcome in Christ’s love. We rejoice that diversity has enriched, nurtured and challenged the life and ministry we share as members of the body of Christ and workers in the kin-dom of God. We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation (LGBT welcomed). We believe that Baptism and Holy Communion are means of grace given for all who desire. Communion is the meal of the baptized family of faith and is extended to all who desire to receive Jesus Christ in, with and under the bread and wine.We believe that every person has something to offer and that we are better together.
